The Gossip frontwoman was raised in Arkansas, where many locals viewed homosexuality as a sin, and thought girls should start producing children when they were barely into their teens.

Ditto says, "I so did not want to be gay. I didn't want to come out of the closet. I would rather have lived my life in misery." At the same time I didn't want to get pregnant because there was real pressure to do that too, even at 15."
